9 - 1!!! Go Vikes!

What a fun game on Sunday. We dominated the Seahawks to bring us to 9 - 1!!

This season and especially this Thanksgiving week there is so much to celebrate and be thankful for.

I am so thankful for and love to celebrate our Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders (MVC) Game Day Traditions. It is an incredible feeling to be a member of ateam that holds tight to traditions that have been passed down over decades! The MVC is truly a family in so many ways.

We have several game day traditions and there aremany individual cheerleaders that have their very own game day traditions too.

How about you? Do you have any game day traditions?

I like to wearthe same socks each game. No need to worry the socks are washed between games! These are not just any socks. They are special socks wemade at our 2009 MVC Captains Carnival in August 2009. Our coach Tami gave us the white socks for our canvas and team captain Ellie brought the paint! Each MVC decoratedtheirown pair and we even had a contest for who had the best decorated socks. One of my socks reads our 2009 MVC Theme " This is Our Year, Yes" and the other sock reads my small teams name "Sideline Shorties".

Sarah and I also have a tradition that takes place when our family from North Dakota is in town for a game. Our Dad alwaysgives us a ride to the Dome. He says the night before, “just get me up 10 minutes before we need to go”. Although it's early, he enjoys being our taxi to the Dome. All the other games my husband Michael gives me a ride. It is a blessing to have so much love and support from home!

My MVC team sister, Laura and I have a tradition of exchanging cards each game. We write a little pump up note for each other! It is a great way to start off game day!

Here are some other fun MVC game day traditions:

Kaylee - Rookie: I have a cup of African tea the morning of a game. I just got it when I was in Tanzania, so every time I drink it and smell it, it brings me back to my memories of Tanzania :) I love it!

Sarah - 5th Year and Team Captain: Every game since I was a Rookie, I bring a little Vikings Cheerleader Bear that sits in my locker. It has been at so many games the word Vikings is rubbed off the bear! I even took it to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii last year and will bring it to the Super Bowl in Miami if (or when) we make the trip in February!

Pamela - 6th Year and Team Captain: Pamela goes through McDonald's drive through every game day morning.

Ellie – 3 rd Year and Team Captain: My game day rituals would be cleaning my boots until they look perfect and I also say a little personal prayer in the morning to motivate myself to try my best!

Natalie – Rookie: Every game, Erin and I meet at Walgreens to caravan or ride with each other. If it's not the crack of dawn, we always go in and buy something: safety pins, 5 hour energies, game food, nails, lashes, tights, etc. We have dubbed it "our Walgreens" since it is brand new and opened just in time for us to meet there at the start of the season :)

Jessie – 3 rd Year: I eat a PB and J sandwich before every game. Bailey and I always pray in the tunnel before we run out. (We welcome others! Last game I think there were 5 of us!)

Pam – Rookie: I have a HUUUGE mug of coffee while I'm getting ready (this mug looks like a bowl) and 10 minutes before circle up, I eat a Cookies n' Cream Power bar ( I think I believe it gives me power haha)

Becky – Rookie: My game day ritual is actually to not have any rituals. I purposely try not to repeat myself each game.

MVC Team Game Day Traditions :

Tami'sCircle Up and Prayer : At 11:20am the entire team circles up and Tami, our coach, gives a game day speech, invites those who would like to pray to pray, and we finish with a hands in

Alumni Poster : There is a poster that is on the wall of our locker from the MVC Alumni that reads “You Were Born Ready” with a heart design in the middle. As we go by on our way out to the tunnel we place our hand on the heart. We love MVC Alumni and honor the legacy they have helped build for us. We will continue to do our best to make them proud as we carry on the MVC traditions and legacy of excellence!

Pump Up Cheer: When we are down in the tunnel and the players come around the corner to line up behind us, Nikki, leads us in a Pump Up Cheer before we run out of the Vikings Ship!

1,2,3 Caps: The Captains get together in a circle whenever we feel the need to celebrate (which is often). We put our hands together and cheer " 1,2 ,3 Caps". On "Caps" we jump up and high five the captain next to us. Too much fun!
