Cornerback Benny Sapp has re-signed with the Vikings, according to a tweet from his agent Andy Simms.

Sapp became an unrestricted free agent last week and tested the market beforere-signing.

Sapp's return is good news for the Vikingssince it's unclear whenCedric Griffin willbe ready to play after havingsurgery torepair an torn ACL.

Sapp started last season as the nickel back but he tookover at left cornerwhen Antoine Winfield suffered a foot injury. Winfield was not 100 percent when he returned so he played in the slot as the nickel while Sapp remainedas the starter.

Sapp did a nice job in place of the Pro Bowler, finishing with seven pass breakups and two forced fumbles.

We'll have moreinformation on Sapp's signinga little later.

Update: Sappagreed to atwo-year deal after playing on back-to-back one-year deals for the Vikings in 2008 and 2009.The deal is worth $4.2 million with $1.5 million in guarantees. That isa nice raise for Sapp, who made about $800,000 in eachof the past twoyears.
