Super Bowl ratings up in Twin Cities

As painful as it might have been for Vikings fans to seeNew Orleans win the Super Bowl on Sunday, that didn't stop them fromtuning intothe game.  

The Saints' 31-17 victory over the Colts had a 51 rating and 75 share on local CBS affiliate WCCO (Ch. 4). Thatplaced the TwinCities15th out of the 50-plus metered markets in the United States, an improvement from a year ago. The Steelers' victory over the Cardinals last season had a 43.4 rating and 67 share on NBC affiliate KARE (Ch. 11) to place Minneapolis-St. Paul 28th out of the 56 metered markets.  

New Orleans was the top-rated market with a 56.3 rating and 82 share.  

Overall, the game had a 46.4 overnight rating and 68 share, the highest-rated Super Bowl in the metered markets in 23 years.That is up10 percent from last year's 42.1/65 inthe metered markets. The national ratings arenot yet available.  


The rating is the percentage of the total population of televisions tuned to a particular prorgram; share is the percentage of televisions actually in use.
